Usually USD 30~ 154 extra charges depends on season and different cities) to guarantee the ticket for you.

After they have booked the train ticket, they will give you a booking number. You need the booking number, your passport and the copy of your Tibet Travel Permit to pick up your ticket at the ticket office. There are always long queues in front of every ticket window. So, you’d better go to the ticket office to pick up the ticket one day in advance.

Meals on the train

There is a dining car on the train for the passengers to have meals. The Dining car is next to the soft-sleeper coach. The dining car on the train provides 3 meals a day. For breakfast, it services eggs, bread, milk, and noodles. For lunch and dinner, it provides Tibetan style meals. The food on the Tibet train is much expensive than anywhere else in China but not good. You’d better take some solid food along with you.
